JOB: PhD position in Forensic Statistics at the IT University of Copenhagen

Are you interested in advancing the use of statistical reasoning in criminal casework? The IT University of Copenhagen welcomes applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD position supervised by Associate Professor Therese Graversen.

The project is driven by current needs in criminal casework pertaining to DNA evidence at one of the main Forensic Science providers in the UK and offers not only a close collaboration with experts there, but also a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on daily casework. The project aims to unify and generalize the existing methods for statistical evaluation of DNA evidence and provide concrete software implementations with good computational performance.

The position further involves teaching in our highly popular study programmes in Data Science. ITU offers a vibrant interdisciplinary community with a wide range of opportunities for exploring advanced use of data science and takes pride in fostering close collaborations with private and public institutions. ITU is part of the newly opened Danish Data Science Academy and the Pioneer Center for AI.
