About the department
Diabetes Manufacturing Development (MDev) is bridging our development and manufacturing units. Here we strive to improve the production and analysis process, all to secure stabile delivery of high quality products in regulatory compliance to our more than 24 million patients all over the world. We are approximately 150 engaged project managers, chemist, laboratory technician and specialists divided in five departments.

You will be a part of the Modelling & Optimisation Department. The department works closely together with process and analytical support colleagues and currently employees seven principal scientists, four area specialists (including one statistician), one principal technician and one technician.

The position
We are searching for a highly qualified and motivated statistician to join the Diabetes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Modelling & Optimisation Department. We are located in Bagsværd just outside Copenhagen, Denmark. Close contact with the manufacturing facilities in Kalundborg is an integral part of the job and one or more days will be spent in Kalundborg on a weekly basis.

You will be responsible for statistical tasks and consultancy within Diabetes API, including statistical analyses, concluding on the results and reporting. You will be bridging the gap between theoretical understanding of statistics and practical use of statistics in large scale biosynthetic API production, and be responsible for developing and expanding these competences within Diabetes API through teaching at specifically targeted statistical courses and seminars for employees across the organisation.

You will have a unique opportunity to directly influence the application of statistics in the production of modern insulin and biosynthetic diabetic drugs in some of the most extensive biotech manufacturing facilities in the world.

Key statistical tools to be used will be ANOVA, regression analysis, acceptance sampling, Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control.

Qualifications
You have a strong background in mathematical statistics as M.Sc. (or Ph.D.) in Statistics, actuary, mathematics or engineering and good knowledge on IT-tools, including software packages for statistics. You have good cooperation and communication skills and an ability to keep the overview on complex matters while working systematically with the tasks. Relevant working experience with processes in pharmaceutical manufacturing and experience with the six sigma philosophy will be an advantage.

You can use statistics to describe reality and translate theoretical understanding to financial results and you can demonstrate results within statistics – preferably from a production environment. You have a minimum of three years experience from university, or from the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

As a person, you are inquisitive and dynamic with a positive attitude to new ideas. You have excellent communication skills to assist you in generating results working cross-functionally in all aspects of Diabetes API.
